Simon's First Deal

Dear Diary,

It is probably around 3am. I know this because the cleaning crew usually passes by around 10pm and I've already accumulated an entourage of coffee cups and red bulls. Apart from my fingers, my body has not moved in the last hour and a half, since I got up to get something from the printer – I can barely feel my legs underneath my desk but I figure they are still there. I have not eaten a vegetable in over three months and I can’t remember the last time I’d been to the gym. My friends have stopped calling since October and I have not been in my apartment for anything other than sleeping in weeks. My arms are sore from the typing and for the last 40 minutes my left eye has not stopped twitching. I have about two more hours of work that needs to be done urgently for tomorrow morning – I have been here long enough to know that it will not be looked at until tomorrow afternoon at best.

Strangely enough, this is usually my favourite time of day. I am no longer angry or frustrated. Bring on the excel induced coma and let my fingers work without disturbing my brain.

Love,
Simon
